NarcissusPosted by Accio (Singapore, Singapore) on 4 March 2008 in Art & Design. "Narcissus, upon finding an image of himself in a pool fell in love with himself and not being able to find consolation, died of thirst at the pool. For if Narcissus had reached to take a drink, he would have shattered his own image into thousands of pieces." Such says wikipedia. I find this statue, in its present state, slightly ironic; as Narcissus admires his reflection in the pool, one can't help but notice an essential part of his masculinity missing. Probably a defect, but makes a very interesting statement indeed.
